Drill In Place For North Shore Connector
The North Shore Connector tunnel is another step closer to reality.
A giant drill is in place to start digging two transit tunnels under the Allegheny River between the North Shore and downtown Pittsburgh.
The Tribune Review reported about 100 construction workers bowed their heads while Japanese engineers also working on the project blessed the machinery with sake on Monday.
It is the first part of the $435 million âTâ expansion between Gateway Station and new stations near PNC Park and Heinz Field.
The drill is expected to be tested within a week.
