Caterpillar uncovers Olympian Diesel Generator Sets

Caterpillar is pleased to announce their new generator sets Olympian generator set that are rated at 26 to 200kVA and 27 to 175 kW. The new generator equipment include updates with using more tough material, better controls, increased accessibility and every thing that makes the machine to work in warm climates and in higher altitudes.

Robert Koval Electric Power Product Manager, Caterpillar Inc. says that Caterpillar has conducted research at global level to identify and fulfill most desirable features to generator sets. The redesign on this new generator has under gone 100 key feature elements. The next gen Olympian is the most valuable to customers as it allows easy servicing and installation. Customers can get more features as standard and variety of configuration options.

The major redesign and feature on the generator was carried out on its enclosure. This new Caterpillar equipment is to stand tall in harshest of environments, as it is with powder coated paint that will save the machine from rusting from weather. To keep the generator set safe from water the Olympian Diesel Generator set features one piece roof and rain caps that are fitted with compression seal.

Every equipment manufacturer faces the problem of loud machinery; the new enclosure is quieter than the previous model, it makes 3 dBA less noise than the previous generator set. Caterpillar achieved this quietness with sound absorbing materials and tuning to exhausts system and airflow.

The configuring the generator is standardized, the machinery is not with much variation in design in the area of option connection points and access panels. Lifting eye is also integrated in the design capable to carry entire weight of the generator. For additional convenience additional base tank drag points are added to the new design.

The frame at the base is extended more than the enclosure to keep it safe from impact. To minimize the replacing cost and repair time, surface is divided into panels if there is any exterior damage to the generator. The generator is added with corner posts that resist denting while the machine is in motion or stationary. To simplify installation, fuel transfer package and fuel line are on the same side this also improves maintenance and efficiency.

To be able to operated in higher temperatures and functional on higher altitude, the Olympian Diesel Generator is with improved radiator and new airflow design which reduces air restriction. To ensure environment safety this Caterpillar machinery is with a drip tray that holds engine fuel. Excess points to the generator is oversized so that it can be quickly and easy repaired without compromising safety and sound reduction.

Another key modification the machinery received is its location of the electrical connection box and co-location of the controller. The control panel is full in length providing total excess to circuit breakers and to total wiring.
